Charming Bed and Breakfast Lodging in Cold Spring New York
Sitting on the eastern bank of the Hudson River, the village of Cold Spring, in the town of Philipstown, in Putnam County, New York, is the quintessential small town. Main Street, with its many 19th c. buildings, is part of the Historic District, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These vibrant buildings house an array of restaurants, antique shops and small mom and pop stores, giving the town the quaint charm of an earlier era. This charm is in part due to the physical terrain of the region. Cold Spring is located at the deepest point of the Hudson River, and offers a commanding view of West Point across the river. The Hudson Highlands border it to the north, and the steeply vertical terrain surrounding it has kept the village small, and prevented suburban sprawl. Although originally known for its industrial economy, driven by the success of the West Point Foundry, today Cold Spring is a community dedicated to tourism and preserving its unique historic village.
