With the growth of the Farm to Table movement and an increasing focus on artisanal and craft foods, farmer’s markets have grown beyond the traditional spring, summer and fall season offerings to offer year around edibles, and other offerings for the pleasure of the consumers palate.
Farmer’s Markets have moved beyond just consumables as well, and offer handcrafted art and other wares perfect for Christmas and other holiday gifts. Nothing makes a nicer gift to a friend or loved one than a locally crafted mug from a local potter, or a handknitted beautiful wool scarf from a local crafter. A lovely addition to family gatherings for the holidays, where everyone contributes something to eat, are some fine local cheeses, jams and chutneys and handcrafted charcuterie for appetizers.
Here are some of the local Hudson Valley Farmer’s Markets open in the Winter that offer a wide variety of local foods, and other goodies to check out and bring home for the holidays while staying at one of our member inns. Most of our inns would be happy to offer refrigeration for any small perishable purchases, please ask your innkeeper in advance.
