The Hudson Valley has a wealth of ski areas, from Downhill to Cross Country offerings to fit any skill level, and terrains that appeal to any range, from beginners to freestylers to rippers. What is a more perfect vacation than coming to the beautiful Hudson Valley, checking in at one of our member B&Bs, getting a comfortable night’s sleep in anticipation of the next day, a delicious breakfast to send you off and then off to get catch some big air at a local ski area?
If you are coming to the Valley for the holidays, many of the resorts have discounted tickets the first week in January for College week, and the weeks leading up to Christmas and New Years have some fun events as well! Windham Mountain offers a Nightmare for Christmas on December 17, a unique snowboard event, Skiing and Riding Santas on December 18, get a free lift ticket for the day if you make like Santa for the day, and a New Year’s Eve Grand Buffet and Celebration on December 31, with fireworks after an extensive buffet. Hunter Mountain also offers a New Year’s Eve Celebration on December 31, with fireworks and a torchlight parade. Catamount Ski Area
Hillsdale, NY and South Egremont, MA
With 36 trails, 7 lifts and over 132 skiable acres, Catamount offers Terrain Parks, night skiing, and additional team and scout programs, in addition to the downhill offerings. It is the only ski area in New York State that also participates in the Vertical Challenge.
With 7 trails, 4 lifts and over 60 skiable acres, Holiday Mountain offers tubing, night skiing, and ice skating, in addition to the downhill offerings.
With 58 trails, 12 lifts and over 240 skiable acres, Hunter Mountain offers Terrain Parks, tubing, night skiing, and snowshoeing, in addition to the downhill offerings.
Mountain Trails Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Center
With 35 kilometers of quiet nature trails on 300 acres that are groomed, track-set, and marked to the degree of difficulty.
With 15 trails, 5 lifts and over 55 skiable acres, Mount Peter offers a new expanded Terrain Park in addition to the downhill offerings.
With 38 trails, 4 lifts and over 75 skiable acres, Plattekill offers Terrain Parks, Lift-serviced snowtubing and snowshoeing, in addition to the downhill offerings.
With 30 trails, 7 lifts and over 100 skiable acres, Thunder Ridge offers Terrain Parks and night skiing in addition to the downhill offerings.
With 53 trails, 12 lifts and over 284 skiable acres, Windham Mountain offers night skiing, ski-in spa, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, and an Adventure Park (¼ mile from the ski area) with outdoor ice skating rink, kids snowmobiles and eight lines of tubing.
