We welcome you to the newly redesigned website of the Hudson Valley Lodging Association (HVLA). Over the years we have had several website designs and it is always amazing to go back and look at the old ones. And just like old photos or old loves…..some age better then others. Every new design allows us to reintroduce ourselves to you and this one allows you to access it on any device: smart phone, iPad, or desktop computer.
Hudson Valley Lodging Association was started in 2001 by innkeepers looking to do something radical. The word radical and innkeepers usually are not thought of in the same sentence, one must admit. Yet, here in the beautiful and small town world of the Hudson River Valley there had never been a regional bed and breakfast association to help promote and brand the area. The goal was to reach out to the bed & breakfasts, country inns and guest houses in the counties of Dutchess, Ulster, Putnam, Westchester, Green, Columbia, Rockland, and Orange with that goal in mind. Over the years we have found our membership represented in each of these counties.
Our simple yet ambitious goal of representing such an array of establishments in an area starting just north of New York City and ending just south of Albany, New York, including both the east and west banks of the romantic Hudson River, can at times be challenging. We meet in the quieter season at such sites as: The Frances Lehman-Loeb Art Center at Vassar College, The Staatsburgh Historic Site, Dia:Beacon, The Culinary Institute Of America(CIA), Ben Marl Winery (member attendance was excellent!) and The Wallace Center at the home of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Presidential Library. Our members love being able to visit these sites. They return home filled with knowledge and images, which they are waiting to share with their guests.
So start planning your visit to the Hudson Valley….any season is a good time. Many of the innkeepers started out just like you….they came to visit…..fell in love with the area and stayed. The Hudson Valley has something for every season and every interest whether it is visiting historic homes such as: The Vanderbilt Mansion, Olana, Clermont, Kykuit, Lyndhurst and Locust Grove. You’ll be in awe of the precision marching of the cadets at West Point. We have the best snow sledding and cross country skiing. Our regional theatre productions offer a diversity that can hold its own with Broadway. For the outdoor enthusiast, try mountain biking and rock climbing on the Shawangunks, kayaking or sailing in the Hudson River, or just enjoy the hundred of miles of our walking trails, they will afford you with months of exploration. Our wineries will impress you and the craft beer movement is thriving in the Hudson Valley!
Please enjoy our new website. There is a very happy innkeeper waiting to greet you and help you enjoy your next Hudson Valley stay.
